1. Freelance writing. Nearly every Internet site needs content and that content needs to be written by someone – why not you? Whether you’re a specialist in one topic, or can write about everything, you’ll be sure to find someone in need of your services. To find clients, you can post on or search through classified ad sites like Craigslist or, even better, you can go to online forums for Internet marketers where you know there will be a high demand for writers.
2. Website / graphic design. Those with knowledge of Adobe Photoshop can earn money online by designing graphics for others. There are many types of graphic design, including minisites, eBook covers, WordPress themes, banners, image ads, logos, and more. If you show some creative talent and can build up a nice portfolio, you can build a long term business out of it – one that pays extremely well too.
3. Being a virtual assistant. Some people manage large businesses online which require skilled and dedicated workers to run. As a virtual assistant, your duties would include, but not be limited to, answering emails and support tickets, updating websites and databases and sending email broadcasts. Becoming a virtual assistant will require you to have good interpersonal skills as well as proficiency with, or an ability to learn, how to use software such as Microsoft Word.
4. Dropshipping through eBay. In addition to selling your unwanted items on eBay for extra cash, you can also start a dropshipping business on eBay. This is basically where you find a supplier for a product, you list the product on eBay and, when it is sold, you forward the order to the supplier, you pay the supplier their cut out of the sale proceeds and keep the rest. This is a really great, risk free way, to make money, as the only upfront cost is that to make a listing on eBay, and you don’t have the hassle of keeping an inventory or posting items..
5. Blogging. This is more of a long term business model, but blogging does not take a lot of effort per day, so you could easily start a blog while pursuing other ventures. Create your own WordPress blog on your own domain and create a theme for your blog. If you post regularly, and keep your content consistent to your theme, your readership will steadily grow, your blog will gain visibility within your niche, and you’ll start to earn money from ads as well as other revenue sources.
